To the teachers, administrators and staff of Shaw Butte Elementary School, Popcornopolis says “Thank you for all you do!”
The long days can be thankless, and for financially strapped schools, even Teacher Appreciation Day can pass by without any recognition. We think that’s a travesty, so when DD Carr, Student Services Specialist for Shaw Butte Elementary outside of Phoenix, reached out for a hand in celebrating her teachers and staff, we decided to pull out all the stops.
It started with an email. DD has been with Shaw Butte, a diverse elementary school in Glendale, Arizona, for nearly two decades. She’s acted as Student Services Specialst for 16 years, and in that time has seen countless teachers and students pass through Shaw Buttes’ halls.
DD’s love for her kids and community of staff members kept her going through the years, and provided her with some pretty beautiful insights. She pointed out that teachers introduce their students to brand new things everyday. They are creating memories and constantly celebrating “firsts”, and she asked that we help her kids share those moments and what they mean incorporating popcorn as an artistic medium (and fuel). She also requested a small treat for her faculty of certified teachers and staff members.
We were happy to oblige, and sent a pretty monstrous care package from our oceanside facility to the Arizona desert including Popcornopolis Mini-Cone Gift Baskets for all 103 teachers, the food services staff, and enough Nearly Naked Popcorn for all 39 classrooms.
Here are some more of the kids and teachers alongside their goodies from Popcornopolis...
May 3 is the only “official” teacher appreciation day, but DD and all teachers’ impact is felt constantly. You work with our precious children- teach them words and equations and the ways of the world. You listen to them and respect their individuality. Inspire them and encourage them right alongside their parents and family members. We trust you to help shape them into people they’ll be proud to be, and for that we appreciate you more than all the popcorn in the world could express.
Keep up the good work Shaw Butte Elementary, and thanks for including us in your wonderful celebration!
